The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell

The Most Dangerous Game is a short story by Richard Connell first published in Collier's magazine on January 19, 1924. The story features a big-game hunter from New York who falls off a yacht and swims to an isolated island in the Caribbean where he is hunted by a Russian Cossack war general. Integrating elements of both popular and literary fiction, Richard Connell’s story provides fast-paced escapism surrounded by the mysterious and unnatural, Gothic atmosphere of panic and isolation.

The photographs taken for this project provide the reader with the protagonist's (Rainsford) emotional and physical point of view. The view surrounded by serene but terrifying wilderness and fast paced urban decay. At times Rainsford is running and swimming in panic for his life; others he is resting peacefully in an almost psychedelic state of mind. The goal of this design was to help the reader feel closer to Rainford as he battles for his life on Ship Trap Island.

Here are some of my favorite spreads and images; photos of the physical book coming soon.
